Set the policy
Open Renewals & automation / Automation & renewals with system.diagnostics; saving billing policy also requires settings.manage and fresh protected confirmation. Review service and domain renewal notice days (1–90), automatic credit application, pre-due/overdue/on-due reminders and domain-expiry reminders.
Reminder lists accept comma-separated whole days, deduplicate and sort them, allow up to 20 values and restrict each to 1–365. Enable a reminder only with a meaningful corresponding day list. Typical source defaults include 7/1 before due, 1/7/14 overdue and 30/7/1 before domain expiry, but inspect the saved installation policy rather than assuming defaults are enabled.
Generate once and retain price meaning
The tick evaluates due eligible recurring services using their stored owner, seller, currency, recurring price and service period. Renewal identity prevents issuing the same period repeatedly. Imported/history-sensitive services can be held until their billing mapping has been reconciled. Later catalogue rates or introductory campaigns do not automatically rewrite existing recurring prices.
Credit application, when enabled, uses eligible credit under its currency/ownership rules. It does not create bank funds or substitute another customer's balance. Reminders use verified billing/support routes and deduplication; a candidate count is not proof of inbox delivery.
Domain provider renewal
An invoice being paid is necessary but not sufficient for registrar renewal. The exact domain, customer, billing service, supported term and existing registrar must match. The connection needs writes and its separate automated-renewal permission. A fresh authoritative expiry must advance for confirmed completion. A transport timeout after submission remains review-required and is not purchased again automatically.
Test before enabling
Use an isolated staging service with a known stored period and test mail sink. Run one tick, inspect the invoice snapshot, repeat it and verify no duplicate period invoice. Confirm unpaid/pending and paid outcomes separately. Customer auto-renew preferences and cancellation can exclude work; review customer renewals before diagnosing an intentional hold.
